Borland’s Software Change and Configuration Management Solution Selected by Raymond James Financial

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Jan 23, 2006 : Borland Software Corporation, (NASDAQ NM: BORL, www.borland.com), the global leader for Software Delivery Optimization, today announced that Raymond James Financial Inc., a Florida-based diversified holding company providing financial services to individuals, corporations and municipalities, has selected Borland StarTeam® as its solution for software change and configuration management. Borland will provide Raymond James Financial with technology and services to help its IT team automate their software development processes and reduce their software delivery time-to-market.

Raymond James Financial chose Borland over three competing change and configuration management solutions, due to StarTeam’s tight integration with their existing technology infrastructure and the robust feature set that the product provided. Additionally, Borland’s current and future offerings for application lifecycle management aligned with Raymond James’ IT strategy for the future.

“We believe that technology needs to be a facilitator of business, not a bottleneck,” said Mark Abbott, vice president of product planning and development at Raymond James Financial. “Borland’s offerings map well to our long-term IT strategy – which includes automating as much of the application lifecycle as possible. Our goal is to deliver more value to the business, deliver it faster, and increase our team’s efficiency.”

Borland StarTeam will serve as an underlying foundation to help the Raymond James IT team coordinate and manage their software delivery lifecycle. By automating team communication and collaboration through customized workflows and centralized control of all project assets, Borland StarTeam will function as a bridge integrating the Microsoft® Visual Studio® development environment, Microsoft Project and Mercury Quality Center™ tools. Raymond James Financial is working with Borland Education and Borland Consulting Services to deploy the solution across its development team.

“Change and configuration management solutions play a central and extremely critical role in an effective application lifecycle management strategy,” said Marc Brown, senior director of product marketing at Borland. “It provides teams with a platform for coordinating and managing the entire software delivery process. We are pleased to be working with a company like Raymond James Financial that understands the value of making software a more predictable business process and the competitive edge that software can bring to their business.”
