New Understanding ALM Course
New Course Teaches Business Decision Makers and Development Teams How to Harness the Power of Borland Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Solutions. Course Offers Comprehensive Overview, Backed by Integrated Demo, Tools
What can software development organizations do to ensure greater success developing and deploying projects? How can business decision makers and development team members minimize – or even better, prevent – project delays, scope and feature “creep,” faulty transitions between process phases and cost overruns?
Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions provide development teams with valuable tools and processes for optimizing planning, work activities and resource utilization throughout the software development lifecycle.
Development organizations find that by leveraging Borland tools and technologies to provide an integrated ALM solution, they’re equipped to not only prevent many of the problems that commonly cause projects to derail, but also able to achieve greater total project success. Two key benefits of ALM solutions:
- Significant reductions in rework that could otherwise cause cost overruns and delays
- More effective and efficient teamwork, resulting in improved planning, management, development and deployment.
New Course Prepares Development Teams for Successful ALM Deployment
Borland has recently introduced a new course called Understanding ALM that’s aimed at ensuring those involved in and impacted by ALM deployment share a solid understanding of how to maximize the total business value of deploying an integrated Borland ALM solution.
Understanding ALM provides participants with a fast-paced and interactive end-to-end view of Borland’s complete ALM solution.
The half-day course backs theory with practical exposure to key concepts, best practices, tools and demonstrations. The course also delves into specific software development processes and technologies.
Course content includes:
- Overview of the business case, challenges and benefits of ALM
- Skills, tools, processes and best practices for successful ALM deployment
- Results and experiences of Borland ALM customers
- Resources and services to ensure successful deployment
Participants learn about the requirements, role and interdependencies of the various individuals, processes and technologies involved in deploying and leveraging Borland ALM solutions. This is important because – in both theory and reality, traditional and agile development environments – development projects are more successful when all team members and decision makers share a solid understanding of an ALM solution’s benefits, challenges and requirements. And, as a result, organizations are much better equipped to maximize the benefits of ALM, Software Development Optimization (SDO) and Borland’s Core Software Development Platform (SDP).
The course has intentionally been designed to meet the needs of a broad audience, including:
- Business leaders who are considering the financial impact and benefits of software development
- Technical leaders who are at the early stages of planning for or deploying ALM solutions
- Development teams who will benefit from the ability of ALM solutions to streamline the delivery lifecycle, increase team collaboration, and improve process integration.
“Understanding ALM is another step forward in how we help our customers successfully deploy the ALM solution,” says MaryAlice Colen, Senior Director of Worldwide Education Services. “This course puts everyone on the same page in terms of understanding an ALM initiative – its value, how individual processes, technologies and people all fit together. This understanding speeds up both the evaluation and deployment processes.”
Understanding ALM is offered as an instructor-led course and can be delivered face-to-face or online via virtual classroom. The course can be easily customized to include customer-specific language or processes
